Field Intern Position

Overview

The field intern works to deliver the campaign’s message to the public through voter contact and track all voter and volunteer activity through VoteBuilder. As the campaign grows, they use the data from this voter contact to develop a detailed strategy to reach the public and gain more support. This entails door to door canvassing and phone contact. They cultivate a relationship between voters and the campaign. They work to engage voters, groups and committees. A field intern will manage field organizers  and volunteer leaders responsible for segments of their district. They will create canvassing events and phonebanking opportunities, and may also coordinate voter registration drives. They design and coordinate a GOTV effort alongside the campaign manager to maximize efficiency in the final stretch of the campaign. 

A field intern must be highly organized and capable of tracking interactions and analyzing large amounts of data in VoteBuilder. The field team may be the only interaction a voter has with the campaign and must be effectively motivated and managed by the field intern. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create opportunities for the campaign to contact voters

• Track all voter contact and volunteer activity in Votebuilder

• Manage all volunteer efforts for doorknocking and phonebanking
  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have own reliable transportation

• Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate effectively, respectfully, and diplomatically with people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels

• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to keep multiple projects on track at the same time

• Working knowledge of Votebuilder

• Preference given to candidates for the position with previous knowledge of the district
